Breakfast is best when it’s all-day, especially when you’re crawling out of bed around noon on a Sunday. At Glass Merchants in Balaclava, all the usual suspects from smashed avocado on sourdough to eggs benny are on the breakfast menu (served all-day from 7am until 4pm – huzzah!).
Head Chef Michael Quinn aims to please with a collection of crowd favourites on offer. If you like bacon and egg rolls, the Glass Merchants breakfast bun is the one for you. Bacon, a fried egg, tomato relish, chorizo, cheese and rocket are served on Brasserie Bread milk bun.
Drinks wise there are a selection of fresh juices, smoothies, and shakes to get you through hot summer days. But if you like your breakfast boozy, add on a Bloody Mary or a mimosa.
Night time tapas and sharing plates are ideal for grazing over drinks. With the likes of croquettes, pan fried saganaki, calamari, and charcuterie boards, it all goes down well with a tipple or two. The bar is mostly stocked with Australian beers and wines, but there are also cocktail carafes (because why not?). Happy hour is between 5.30-7.30pm for those needing a pre-dinner pick-me-up.
Glass Merchants is also perfect for your next party, celebration or function. The quirky interior has a spacious garage feeling, bordered by exposed brick walls. Filled with eclectic furnishings, a sense of industrial chic emanates through the space.
