Last Wednesday night there were some people in Melbourne having trouble sleeping. They were not stressed…they were not unwell…they were just SSSOOOOO EXCITED! When the sun rose on Thursday morning (17th November 2011) the once building site of 150 Thistlethwaite Street was coming to life. The barista was seasoning the shiny new La Marzocco machine and making the first coffees for the attending staff…the bakers were wheeling in many crates of freshly baked delicious artisan made bread and pastries for the newly installed wooden display racks…and the head chef was prepping madly for a busy first day ahead!
We were officially open for business!
Our first customers that came through the door were feeling the excitement too. Some bought bread & a takeaway coffee…some stayed & ordered breakfast or lunch & second coffees…some stayed ordered a snack and left with bread, pastries and cakes!
Busy Thursday turned into busy Friday and then our first Saturday of being open was a steady stream of happy customers plus we hosted our first ‘kids bake class’ at 10am. 9 children aged between 5 and 12 attended the hour long free session and skipped out boasting their baked goods of ‘smashed pizza’ & chocolate bread!
We are open Monday to Saturday 7:30am to 3pm. Brasserie Bread Melbourne is of the similar make up of Brasserie Bread Sydney…Cafe, Retail, Wholesale & Baking School. The team are (as in Sydney) passionate, excited, often hungry for more bread…and all over enthusiastic about what we do!
A couple of clicks that might be helpful for you…our full Cafe Menu here…how to find us map here….and to book your children into our kids bake free class please contact 1300 966 845. In 2012 we will commence other more adult classes such as Team Building and the ever-popular Art of Sourdough.
The first babycino's were made for this little happy two...they loved watching the busy bakers through the portal!

Thank you! We are having a lot of fun…Hope to see you soon.
My kids (in the photo!) loved watching your bakery at work. Her eyes lit up when I said she would be able to make her own bread there one day.
Thanks so much for the fabulous mini croissants delivered to the office this morning… FANTASTIC! Looking forward to coming in for breakfast!
Cheers, Simone
Thank you Simone…We look forward to having you!
