With a background in coffee and then running The Refinery Espresso, Andrea Manfe changed gears to open Brick Lane Espresso in West Pymble last year. The friendly vibe is infectious with customers on a first name basis doling out kisses on Andrea’s cheek. There’s outdoor seating aplenty to bask in the sun or inside seating for rainy days. Get a great caffeine fix by Goliath Coffee Roasters to round out your breakfast or lunch.
The Food
It’s all about quality cafe food with a hint of an Italian flair at Brick Lane. Andrea gets his inspiration from the likes of Instagram, Good Food and good old Google to see what people are interested in eating.
Breakfast is a sweet affair with French toast made with Brasserie Bread brioche, a dollop of vanilla mascarpone, mint, and caramelised banana. But the most popular is the breakfast bruschetta: two poached eggs, grilled haloumi, avocado salsa, and cherry tomatoes atop Brasserie Bread harvest grain sourdough toast.
Lunch is focused on burgers, salads, and pastas, as well as a few all-day breakfast options for those who are prone to sleep in. We’re treated to a sneak peek of the new pulled pork sliders that will soon grace the lunch menu. The duo of pork sliders are made with apple and fennel slaw, pork crackling, gherkins, and tomato relish on Brasserie Bread slider brioche buns.
The Interior
Andrea divulges they researched and completed the interior themselves, taking ideas from other venues and turning to Pinterest for design inspiration. The green couch with red chairs were a fine Pinterest find. And the brick wall behind the counter remains a feature wall, echoing the cafe name.
