To celebrate the end of year with our lovely customers, we converted part of our Banksmeadow warehouse and alleyway into a Family Fun Day. This year also marks the tenth year of Brasserie Bread residing at the Banksmeadow bakery, so it was the perfect opportunity to celebrate with our incredible customers who have been buying our bread over the years.

The alley was lined with hay bales and palm trees; the aroma of a seafood paella and meats on the BBQ wafted through the lane. Guests were greeted by fresh mini pastries coming out of the oven and coffee by Allpress Espresso, who kindly supplied the coffee machine, coffee beans and cups. Rebecca from Eden Floral Design created a Peppa Pig flower masterpiece and also made fantastic vegetable centrepieces. Her wonderful flowers were also available for sale at the Fun Day. DJ Mantis played chill out tunes to set the ambiance.

Family Fun Day Food

Mindy Woods cooked up some incredible food as always. The giant paella pan featuring delicious seafood from Fishtales Seafoods was the highlight. But delicious meats also cooked away on the BBQ and were accompanied by fresh, summery salads.

An antipasto table was impressively assembled with Pepe Saya butter, ALTO misto olives, Salumi meats and an incredible range of cheeses from Australia on a Plate and Australian Specialist Cheesemakers’ Association. The table was strewn with the likes of Holy Goat La Luna Ring, d’Affinois and Pyengana mature cheddar. All was matched impeccably with Brasserie Bread pane croccante, sourdough loaves and fruit breads.

For dessert there were delectable brioche ice cream sandwiches. Raspberry and chocolate Gundowring ice cream were scooped between our slider brioche buns and drizzled with salted caramel sauce or dusted with icing sugar.

Richard and Marika from Sydney Brewery joined us to showcase a range of beers and cider, including Lovedale Lager, Glamarama, Darlo Dark and Sydney Cider to match Mindy’s fabulous food.

Kids Activities

Our fun day of course focused on families, so the activities were all kid-friendly. We set up tables for gingerbread decorating, so kids were able to get creative with icing and candy. Another table was covered in flour to allow kids draw with their fingers in the flour. One of the walls in our warehouse was painted with chalkboard paint in preparation for the day, allowing everyone to draw with colourful chalk to their heart’s content.

The Peppa Pig’s Slider Bar gave kids the choice of beef or chicken mini burgers, where they could add their own tomatoes, lettuce, sauces and pickles on our slider brioche buns. We also set up a Kids Soda Bar, serving Frou Frou fruit cordials mixed with soda water. Frou Frou fruit cordials are made without preservatives or artificial flavouring.
