Alfresco Emporium

Hamptons-inspired and classic coastal style makes Alfresco Emporium one of Sydney’s best lifestyle destinations and a true gem of the Northern beaches. Alfresco Emporium first caught our bloggy attention when we found out that it was family-owned, and that Linda, the Marketing Manager and daughter of Janice (founder of Alfresco) was coming in for our Wholesale Breaducation workshop. Upon hearing rave reviews of the store, we decided we had to pay them a visit (and you know how we love our ‘out-of-bakery excursions’).

Three things we like about Alfresco Emporium:

1. Their impeccable style and taste

Being in Alfresco Emporium is an experience in itself. They have an impressive range of homewares, displayed within immaculately styled spaces (the cosy-looking book nook being one of our favourites). The in-store café provides a touch of ‘raffles’ class, with elegant black-and-white chequered tiles, large rattan ceiling fans and sunlight pouring in through glass louvred windows. You could spend hours immersed in the sophisticated detail of the shop, convinced that you’ve just stumbled across Sydney’s secret treasure.

2. A quality café providing food with thought

A polished Northern Beaches lifestyle sets the standards for this café. Quietly gaining traction with the locals who love it for a spot of morning tea, it’s not about how fast tables can be turned around, or the number of sandwiches that can be sold. It’s about quality and the Alfresco Emporium experience. They stock a great range of Brasserie Bread, including signature favourites like the Caramelised Garlic Bread, Sour Cherry Loaf, and Organic Sourdough. Everything is served with care and thought, which makes their customers feel like they’re relaxing in a beautiful home away from home.

“Our goal is to offer a unique shopping experience where you can happily wonder, sit down and read a book, pick up some fresh flowers and share a cup of coffee with friends. We want it to be an inspiring home away from home. Simply, a place you want to spend more time in.”

Further to the ‘shopping experience’ you can share a special occasion experience, enjoying a fine selection of sweet & savoury at Alfresco’s High Tea served every Tuesday. Bookings are essential (02 9972 9899). Catering for the gluten-free customer is also a niche they relish. Some unique gluten-free menu options include a gluten-free antipasto platter, frittatas, soups, salads and open plate ‘sandwiches’ with gluten-free crackers instead of bread.

3. The kids are alright

From cookie decorating demos to a dedicated kids’ play corner, the children are free to have a lifestyle experience of their own while you indulge your inner girl, swooning at the elegant floral displays woven amongst the wares through the store.

Cooking & tasting events at Alfresco Emporium

Alfresco Emporium will be having a Brasserie Breads tasting on the 13th August in conjunction with a cooking demonstration by the author of ‘Frost Bite’, Susan Austin. Susan is cooking a selection of savoury winter recipes, one of which incorporates Brasserie Breads’ famous Sourdough. To find out more about the demo, other events or to subscribe to Alfresco Emporium visit their website.
