OzHarvest raised a record-breaking $1.5 million at the CEO Cook Off on Monday 7 March. In its fifth year in Sydney, and for the first time ever in Brisbane, the CEO Cook Off aims to build awareness on food security and food wastage in Australia.
In Sydney 130 senior business leaders and 40 top chefs were teamed up together to cook three course meals for over 1,000 homeless and vulnerable food recipients at The Cutaway, Barangaroo.
Brasserie Bread donated single origin loaves for both Sydney and Brisbane events. The bread was meticulously sliced by our cafe staff, and used for the entrees. Chefs and CEOs banded together to create mushroom and tomato bruschetta. The mains were chef’s creations, and desserts were mini pavlovas by Black Star Pastry.
Guests were also treated to incredible performances by Bangarra Dance Theatre, Yirrmal, and Sarah Blasko.
At the Brisbane event, Rodney Molla, CEO of Brasserie Bread, cooked along with Dominique Rizzo at the Royal International Convention Centre. It was the first ever CEO Cook Off in Brisbane, and we were delighted to be a part of it.
“Food is all about caring, sharing, dignity and respect. It’s an equaliser and a connector and that’s what this event is about – giving and love” said Ronni Kahn, founder of OzHarvest.
