On Sunday 4th October we joined the Welcome Celebrations at Barangaroo. The Giant Picnic curated by Alex Herbert brought together Sydney’s greatest chefs and bakers to serve a feast of delicious picnic-style dishes on Stargazer Lawn. Now that’s a good Sunday: lounging on a BYO picnic rug in the sun with incredible food, free live music and magnificent views.
A collaboration between not-for-profit outfit Two Good Co, Brasserie Bread, and Pepe Saya offered two spring salads with fresh bread and butter. We donated our Single Origin sourdough to support Two Good Co’s great cause. For every salad purchased, Two Good Co gives one to a domestic violence shelter. The two fresh and delicious salad options included The Mitch Orr (pork & fennel sopressa, roasted carrots and whipped ricotta) and The Hetty McKinnon (peas, mint with quinoa, feta and almonds).
John Susman of Fishtales and Michael Shafran of Brooklyn Boy Bagels schmeared bagels with cream cheese, fresh dill, capers, and onion, then loaded them up with Mount Cook Alpine smoked salmon. Colin Fassnidge and Carla Jones from 4 Fourteen served pulled suckling pig rolls. Joel Best of Bondi’s Best dished up traditional fish and chips and Walkers tuna sashimi. Smoked chicken and hot sauce was prepared by Luke Powell from LP’s Quality Meats.
The Barangaroo Welcome Celebrations will continue every weekend until 22 November 2015.
