Monk Bodhi Dharma is not a café – it’s a sanctuary for the perfect coffee-seeking, good-food eating, produce-loving, warm, fuzzy-feeling human. We love everything about this place!
Let’s start with the coffee – roasted in house (I’m sitting next to the roaster as we speak!) from seasonal single estate beans in small batches and prepared with great care and love.
Then there’s the divine menu, catering for every food desire and special diet with a focus on seasonal, sustainable, organic, vegetarian and healing foods. As you look around the cosy, warm space The Avo (Avocado tossed with feta, mint, chilli and lemon served on toasted Quinoa & Soya Sourdough) seems to be at every table.
Actually, I take that back – there’s a fair few pancakes flying out of the kitchen too… The Avignon Apple Pancakes (gluten free & vegan) are made from buckwheat and served with raw vanilla bean whipped cream and dehydrated apple chips.
The team at Monk Bodhi Dharma also have a soft spot for the granola – it’s made in-house. It’s dehydrated and deliciously spiced, and they serve it with raspberries, plump blueberries and handmade nut milk. Amazing!
Monk Bodhi Dharma is the brainchild of Marwin Shaw and his vision was to create a space where people feel welcome, nourished and included, all the while experiencing the best coffee and beautifully created vegetarian food. Everything is taken from a sustainability perspective – no bottles, no cans, cruelty free and ethical.
Whenever you drop in at Monk Bodhi Dharma, you are made to feel like an old friend, it’s just that kind of place.
Make sure you pop in on a Tuesday – it’s dress up day and if you become a regular you might be tempted to join in! Also check out Monk Bodhi Dharma Nights – they open for dinner every Friday with a seasonal menu that looks unbelievable (apparently the Cannelloni is life changing!).
